Desperate English Housewife in Washington, chapter 571

Really bloody cold

There’s not much going in UK Desperate Housewife land at the moment because it’s just really cold and that’s about it. Snow days, blah, school delayed, blah, really cold, blah, freezing temperatures, blah.

Snow days blah

Snow days blah

The Number One thing I won’t miss when I return to the UK is the freezing cold and the endless school closings. How many days of school missed already here in Maryland? I ask how many days have been missed in the UK cos of the rain? πŸ˜‰

If I were President…

Harry’s delightful answer to this question posed to him and his class mates in light of it being Presidents’ Day this week: ‘Imposible (sic). I am English.’

This.

This.

Hersheys vs Cadbury

An American friend recently asked how many Hershey kisses you could eat in one sitting. None, I replied, cos I’m boycotting Hersheys. Fact.

Hands off!

Hands off!

Oooh, the controversy that ensued! Best keep my British sarcasm out of it! πŸ˜‰

  1. Maryjenmary says:

My Buddha outside has a cone cap of snow. He says: “Love. Make peace with snow.” That is what we must do.

  2. EmmaK says:

I rather like all the snow. Especially when I can stay in all day and watch mindless crap like Dance Moms. Well….I suppose I don’t like the shovelling bit.

  3. Hersheys kisses taste like vomit anyway!

  4. It’s cold enough here in the South lately – I can only imagine what it’s like up there! No idea how you do it! Stay warm! Also, I’m with you on the Hershey’s – bleugh!

Ok, this is what has been bugging me about Europeans disliking “American chocolate” as if ALL chocolate in America is Hershey’s even though Hershey’s is literally one single chocolate company out of thousands of other chocolate companies in this nation of 1/3 a billion people and 50 states with their own chocolate companies with different chocolate making methods. Mars is pretty popular in the U.K. and across Europe, and the world, and Mars is an American chocolate company; Hershey’s is ONE company with their own unique taste and chocolate making method. I don’t like Hershey’s milk chocolate either but I wouldn’t eat it and say, “Wow, based on ONE chocolate bar from ONE American chocolate company, I have come to the conclusion that ALL American chocolate must taste like this and therefore, ALL American chocolate is terrible.” In fact, some Hershey’s products are pretty good such as their “cookies ‘n’ creme” bar and their Zero bars, which are like white fudge version of a Mars’ Snicker’s bar…which is pretty awesome. However, all of this pales in comparison to my favorite chocolate from my favorite chocolate company…which are See’s blueberry truffles. Also, Cella’s milk chocolate covered cordial cherries are simply amazing as well as Sweet’s milk chocolate covered raspberry sticks which are simply an orgasm in chocolate form…in my not so humble and unbiased opinion.
